Ile-de-France Mobilités, the parisien region’s transport authority announced the special metro ticket price ranges for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Public transport users will not be able to buy the regular Navigo Daily and Weekly passes from 20th July, 2024 to 8th September, 2024.
Ticket Prices during the Olympic Games
A Paris 2024 pass will be created with a special pricing of 70 euros per week, compared to 30 euros available currently. Unlimited Daily passes will be increased to,
- 16 euros for a day
- 30 euros for 2 days
- 42 euros for 3 days
- Up to 10 euros a day after 7 days.
The single-use metro ticket price will be increased to 4 euros, from the current price of 2.10 euros.
People using the monthly or annual Navigo passes will not be affected by these temporary changes made for the olympic games.
Occasional travelers will have to take precautions to avoid paying the high fares. To avoid the metro tickets at 4 euros, they will have to load tickets on a Navigo Easy card before 20th July 2024. After this date, only the Liberté+ package will allow them to travel for 1.73 euros per trip
Why are they increased?
During the 2 months of the games, the frequency of trains, buses, RER, etc will be 15% higher than normal. This means an additional cost of 200 million euros.
According to Ile-de-France Mobilités authorities, this temporary increase in fares should be able to finance the additional capacity during the Olympics.
The president of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse explains the creation of this Paris 2024 pass, in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter): “There is no question that the people living in Ile-de-France will pay this cost.”
