The Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) is inviting applications from Indian candidates for various PhD and post-doc positions for the 2024 CEFIPRA Research Projects. The research work focused on Science and Technology will be done at partner universities in France.

Who can apply?

  • Only Indian candidates or candidates with research experience in India are eligible.
  • French candidates are not eligible.
  • Applicants for Ph.D. positions must have a master’s degree (or be in the process of obtaining one) or have a University degree equivalent to a European Master’s (5-year duration) to be eligible at the time of the deadline of the call.
  • Applicants for post-doctorate positions must have a Ph.D. degree (or be in the process of obtaining one).
  • No competencies in the French language is required.

How to apply?

Documents required:

  • A cover letter (reasons for the candidature, professional project …) of maimum 2 pages.
  • A copy of the master’s degree or a proof of the program followed (and expected date of completion) OR A copy of the Ph.D. degree or a proof of the Ph.D. program followed (and expected date of defense) maximum 1 page.
  • A copy of results from previous scholarships (maximum 3 pages).
  • International curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages).
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from any Indian institution and one from the French institution planned to host the candidate (maximum 2 pages).
  • All the above documents should be submitted within 1 pdf file of no more than 10 pages.

Candidates without a recommendation letter from the French institution will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

Selections will be made by a dedicated selection committee of at least 4 persons. Decisions will be transmitted by the Embassy of France to CEFIPRA.

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria,

Academic excellence:

  • Excellent academic background.
  • Honors and Letters of support.
  • Participation in international research projects, exchange programs, and conferences.

Motivation and qualities:

  • Academic maturity: appropriation of the thesis project (stakes and contexts).
  • Quality of the presentation (oral expression, skills for synthesis, English level).
  • Maturity of the professional project: capacity to project her/himself for the next five years in terms of career development.
