Tenant or Owner

Tenant: If you are renting an apartment, you must provide the following documents dated less than 3 months old.

  • Rental agreement or rent receipt in your name.
  • An utility bill (electricity or gas, water, landline phone, internet access) in your name.

Landlord: If you own the apartment, you must provide the following documents dated less than 3 months old. 

  • Housing tax proof (taxe d’habitation or taxe foncière) in your name.
  • An utility bill (electricity or gas, water, landline phone, internet access) in your name.

Note: A proof of domicile with a 2D-Doc barcode cannot be refused by the French administration. 

Hotel or Airbnb

If you are living in a hotel or Airbnb, you must provide the following 2 documents,

  • Attestation from the hotel.
  • Invoice for the last month.

Staying with someone (family, friend, etc.)

If you are being hosted by someone, you must provide the following 3 documents,

  • Certificate of the host (attestation d‘hébergement) dated and signed.
  • Copy of the host’s national identity card (if EU person) or copy of Passport and French resident permit (if non-EU person).
  • Proof of the host’s domicile, if the address of the resident card is no longer up to date. For example: Housing tax statement or rental agreement or rental recept or electricity, gas, water, landline or internet bill.
