Analyzing a French student visa rejection involves examining the reasons for the refusal and reviewing the applicant’s specific circumstances. This includes assessing documentation, financial support, educational credentials, accommodation, academic qualifications, etc. to identify deficiencies and improving the chances of the reapplication.
Getting it right the first time is very important. So, This article explains the various aspects to check before submitting a student visa application or a re-application following a rejection.
Did you know? If you are reapplying after a student visa rejection, you don’t have to repeat the Campus France NOC process again for the same intake.
Student Visa Documents checklist for VFS
Here’s a non-exhaustive checklist of documents required for the French student visa application. You can verify your visa application package using the following list.

Student visa applicants must ask the following questions to themselves before submitting the visa application in VFS office. Analyzing their applications based on these questions might help them to avoid a rejection.

- Have I submitted a detailed cover letter explaining my motivations to study in France?.
- Are all my documents authentic and reliable?. No fake documents?.
- Did I submit a valid Schengen travel health insurance?.
- Did I submit a valid flight ticket?. Dummy flight tickets must be avoided.
- Have I submitted the Visa application in time?. For a September intake, have I submitted application by June/July or in worst case at least by August?.
- Am I submitting an application in Sept for a Sept intake?.
Course Information
- Is my college/course certified by RNCP or CGE ?
- Do I have a decent academic background?.
- Is the course relevant to my professional experience?.

- Is my course related to national security?. Ex: Aeronautics, Chemical, Nuclear, etc.
- If yes, Have I interned or worked in any defense related company such as DRDO, HAL, etc ?.
Accommodation
- Have I submitted a proper accommodation proof?. Is it valid for minimum 6 months or an year?.
- Is it just a Housing certificate from private agents like LivinFrance, etc or a valid accommodation confirmation letter?.

- Have I submitted proper proof of finances for tuition fees + living expenses of at least 7400€ per year?. Expense statement detailing the finances?.
- Have I submitted any Fixed deposits (FD) certificate as financial resources instead of cash balance?.
- If yes, Have I submitted a signed and stamped letter from the bank stating that the FDs are only for the purpose of higher education in France?.

Hi Sir,
I recently received a visa refusal. I am student who had applied for a course in Quantum Technology. I had previously interned at a defense related company on the same topic.
Can you please guide me on the appeal process?
Hello,
Every year, 100s of students receive visa rejections. So, The only way to appeal is by following the process mentioned in the rejection letter.
Unfortunately, There is no other choice for formal or informal appeals.
You can contact the French Embassy if you want to try something. But to be honest, it may not be helpful based on the previous examples.
My cousin had planned for September 2024, intake. However his visa got rejected.
Now he plans for September 2025 intake and this time he has got admission in a better school.
When he tries to apply on campus france site, it says there is already a previous application.
How do we proceed? Is there an option to cancel the previous NOC since it was for a different school. Hoping to get things done earlier this time.
Thank you.
Hello Jaya,
Usually, we can delete and/or create a new application. Please contact Campus France for any technical questions about their site.

Prasanth

Now I got the differed language course letter and the main MBA course remained the same …now should I once again do the campus France application or directly I can go for the visa ???
Hello Giri,
Apply the student visa based on your MBA admission and not the French course.

Hi Prasanth, quick context about my visa reapplication.
I was admitted to UPVD for the DUFLE French program starting 1 September 2025. My first visa was refused on 18 August because the purpose of stay looked unclear.
I now have an official extension from the university allowing arrival until 7 October, new accommodation booked from 16 September to 6 October, updated insurance and flight, and a clearer plan.
Goal is to do DUFLE to reach B2, then a Master in Sustainable or Automotive Engineering in France from 2026, targeting schools that require B1 to B2 like INSA Toulouse and Université de Montpellier.
Financials are about 16,000 euros from my savings and my mother’s support with fresh affidavit and statements.
I am also applying on Studapart for a long term lease and can show screenshots.
Hello Sohel,
Sorry, I dont know what to say when you are repeating the same mistakes like very short accommodation, etc mentioned as reasosn for rejection in the above article. Please read the article atleast once completely to avoid another rejection.
Cheers,
Prasanth

Hello Vansh,
The rejection reason are pretty clear and available in your question itself. So, it was an obvious rejection.
Regarding the funds for French student visa, I have explained everything on https://prasanthragupathy.com/2023/06/how-to-show-funds-for-your-french-student-visa-application/ Blocked account process is not even required for France.

Thankyou for your reply prasanth, i wanna know what other documents i need to show for my funds or finance as i will be using again blocked account, my money is already there so i cant step back. I didn’t see any article on blocked account, i hope you can guide me here.
Normal bank account or blocked account, the required docs are similar. Please refer to the chapter “Self-sponsorship” in the article shared below. Also, please do your own reasearch and not rely on agents. All the info is available freely online.
All the best.
