Paris 2024 Olympics: Metro, Tram and RER Network Disruptions and Station closures for the Games

For the smooth running of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, some metro stations, tram stops and RER C stations will be temporarily closed this summer. These closures are planned in various stages from 17th May to 21st September 2024.

The RER lines A, B, D, and E are not impacted due to the games. For the latest updates, you can also consult me-deplacer.iledefrance-mobilites.fr and ratp.fr/itineraires.

From 17th May to 17th July

The first stage is during the set-up phase of temporary competition sites in Paris. The following metro stations will be closed.

  • From 17th May 2024: Concorde (Metro line 12)
  • From 17th June 2024:
    • Concorde (Metro lines 1, 8, and 12)
    • Tuileries (Metro line 1)

From 18th to 25th July

In preparation for the opening ceremony, several metro, tram, and RER C stations will be closed from the 18th to the 25th of July 2024.

Metro

  • Metro Line 1: No stops at Champs-Elysées – Clémenceau (from July 20), Concorde, and Tuileries stations.
  • Metro Line 4: No stop at Cité station.
  • Metro Line 5: No stop at Quai de la Rapée station
  • Metro Line 6: No stops at Trocadero, and Passy stations.
  • Metro Line 7: No stops at Pont-Neuf, Châtelet, and Pont Marie stations
  • Metro Line 8: No stop at Concorde station
  • Metro Line 9: No stops at Alma–Marceau, Iéna (only on 24th July), and Trocadéro stations.
  • Metro Line 11: No stops at Châtelet station (temporary terminus at Hôtel de Ville).
  • Metro Line 12: No stop at Concorde station,
  • Metro Line 13: No stops at Champs-Elysées–Clémenceau station (from 20th July).

RER C

  • Trains do not stop at Champ de Mars stations – Eiffel Tower, Pont de l’Alma, Musée d’Orsay.

Tram

  • T2 Tram:
    • On 24th July from 9h to 12h, no traffic between Parc de Saint-Cloud and Les Moulineaux (temporary terminus at Parc de Saint-Cloud for the West branch and Les Moulineaux for the East branch)
    • From 25 July, no traffic between Suzanne Lenglen and Porte de Versailles (temporary terminus at Suzanne Lenglen)
  • T3a: From 25th July, trains do not stop at Porte de Versailles station
  • T10: On July 24 morning (schedule to be confirmed), complete line closure.

Note

  • The closures at the Châtelet station concern only the Seine sector (Metro lines 7 and 11).

On 26th July Opening Ceremony

To ensure the arrival of spectators and the running of the opening ceremony, the closures and reopening of metro stations and the RER C are done at 5 distinct times on 26th July 2024.

Before 13h, 26th July

  • Line 1: Trains do not stop at Franklin D. Roosevelt, Champs-Elysées – Clémenceau, Concorde, and Tuileries stations.
  • Line 4: Trains do not stop at Cité station.
  • Line 5: Trains do not stop at Quai de la Rapée station.
  • Line 6: No traffic between Charles de Gaulle – Etoile and La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle (temporary terminus at La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle).
  • Line 7: No traffic between Palais-Royal Musée du Louvre and Jussieu (temporary terminus at Palais-Royal Musée du Louvre for the North branch and Jussieu for the South branch).
  • Line 8: Trains do not stop at Concorde station.
  • Line 9: No traffic between Miromesnil and Porte de Saint-Cloud (temporary terminus at Miromesnil for the East branch and at Porte de Saint-Cloud for the West branch).

  • The RER C Invalides station will be reopened subject to surface regulation by law enforcement.

From 27th July to 8th September

Following the Opening Ceremony, some stations are kept closed to secure sporting events throughout the Games. A gradual reopening is therefore implemented to facilitate the daily movements of users.

  • The station Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau (Metro lines 1 and 13) will be closed from 20th July to 11th August inclusive, and again from 22nd August to 8th September inclusive. The station will therefore be open from 12th to 21st August inclusive.
  • The station Concorde (Metro lines 1, 8, and 12) and Tuileries (Metro line 1) stations will remain closed until 1st September.

Gradual Reopening

A gradual reopening is implemented to facilitate the daily movements of users.

From 2nd September

  • Reopening of the Concorde station on Metro lines 1 and 8 but not served by Metro line 12.
  • Reopening of the Tuileries station on Metro line 1.

Some Exceptions

To ensure that the competition venues of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games remain 100% accessible by public transport while minimizing the impacts of travel by Ile-de-France residents, the transport plan has been revised.

Three stations were left open

  • The Sully-Morland station (Metro line 7) remains open until the evening of 25th July.
  • The Iéna station (Metro line 9) remains open until 25th July (except on Thursday 24th July).
  • The Saint-Michel/Notre-Dame train station (RER C) remains open until 18h on 26th July and then reopens at 23h15.

Three stations reopen earlier

  • The Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau station (Metro lines 1 and 13) will be open from the 12th to the 21st of August and then from the 9th of September.
  • The Concorde station (Metro lines 1 and 8), and the correspondence between these two lines, reopen on 2nd September.
  • The Tuileries station (Metro line 1) reopens on 2nd September.
