Key Points to Note
1. Unchanged Reimbursement Rates: Health Insurance will continue to cover 70% of the consultation cost, with the remaining 30% covered by private insurance (mutuelles).
2. Higher Patient Contribution: Since May 15, 2024, the fixed patient fee has doubled from €1 to €2 for medical consultations, radiology exams, and lab tests. This fee is not reimbursable by Health Insurance or complimentary health insurance (mutuelle).
Exceptions:
- Midwives (Sage-femme), dentists, or medical assistants.
- Beneficiaries of Complémentaire santé solidaire, State Medical Aid (AME), and pregnant women (after 6 months of pregnancy or up to 12 days postpartum).
3. Specific Long Consultations: From January 1, 2026, doctors can offer a long consultation (cost: €60) for patients aged 80 and older in specific situations:
- Post-hospitalization follow-up.
- Reduction of prescribed medications.
- Assistance with administrative medical documentation. For example: applications for personalized autonomy allowance (allocation personnalisée d’autonomie APA).
4. Teleconsultation Rates: The cost for teleconsultations will remain €25 for the next five years, compared to €30 for in-person visits.
Compromise in Exchange for Higher Fees
Assurance maladie is asking doctors to help reduce overall healthcare costs by cutting down on unnecessary:
- Prescriptions (Ordonnance).
- Diagnostic tests.
- Sick leave authorizations (Arrêt maladie).
