A summary of the various scholarships available for Indian students, who are planning for their higher education in France. Scholarships are available for courses like Bachelor, Master, PhDs, and exchange programs.

Did you know? Every year, French Embassy in India along with its partner companies and institutions award scholarships to more than 500 meritorious young Indian students who wish to pursue their higher education in France.

France Excellence Charpak Master Scholarship

Indian national or an OCI card holder.

Be 30 years old maximum at the time of application.

Currently enrolled in or have studied at an Indian Institution.

Have applied for admission at a French institution, before applying for the scholarship.

The course must take place in France. If you have one semester or more of studies in another country, the scholarship will not be provided during that period.

Be 23 years old maximum at the time of application.

Have never before studied at an educational institution in France.

Have completed secondary school education in India.

Have applied for an eligible bachelor’s programme starting in September 2025.

France Excellence Charpak Exchange Scholarship

Offered twice a year: Autumn session (September to December)  and Spring session (January to May/June).

Who can apply?Indian students enrolled in an Indian institution at the Bachelors or Master’s degree level, who wish to undertake a study exchange semester programme in France (for a period of one to six months).

Eligibility

Indian national residing in India or an OCI card holder.

Be not more than 30 years old at the time of application.

Currently enrolled in an Indian institution that has a partnership with a French institution where the applicant will pursue an exchange semester. But, it is not mandatory.

Final-semester students working on research projects or a thesis are NOT eligible to apply.

Monthly allowance of 700€  (preferably between May and August).

Waiver from student visa fe and Etudes en France fee (if applicable).

Note:
Does not cover medical or travel expenses, travel insurance, or accommodation assistance.

Internships can be longer than 2 months but the scholarship will cover only 2 months.

Who can apply?Indian students enrolled in an Indian institution at the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level, planning to undertake an internship/research project at a French laboratory or institution during their academic break (between May and August).

Indian national residing in India at the time of application.

Be not more than 30 years old at the time of application

Enrolled in an Indian institution at Bachelor’s/Master’s level at the time of application.

Having an admission/acceptance letter from a French laboratory or institution where the research internship/project will be carried out.

France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship

How to apply?Applicants are nominated directly by your college or university to the selection committee.

 

Application & Selection Process

For the Eiffel scholarship, a candidate must be nominated by the French college or university.

So, you cannot submit an application directly like other scholarships. Contact your institution for more information.

Documents Required:

  • Passport-size photograph.
  • Copy of the first and last pages of your passport, which shave your information and photo.
  • Curriculum Vitae (1-2 pages).
  • Copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French college or university.
  • Copy of transcripts and degrees of Higher Secondary School (XII), Bachelor’s and Master’s. Course completion certificate, if a degree is not yet available, or transcripts of the completed semesters.
  • Copy of French language certificates (if available). This adds some value to your application.
  • Copy of internships and work experience certificates (if available).
  • Statement of Purpose explaining your motivations.
  • Copy of Letter(s) of recommendation from the current Indian university/employer or the institution last attended. 
  • For the Lab Internship: a No objection certificate (NOC) from your college or university in India in the format NOC format Charpak Lab.docx
  • All the above documents must be in pdf or jpeg format only. Formats like word, rtf, odt, txt, msg documents, zip folders, screenshots, or scans of social media are not accepted. Applications submitted without required documents, or incorrect documents, will be rejected.

Selection Process:

  • Applications will be selected based on academic performance, the quality of the application, and the statement of purpose (SOP).
  • There is no CGPA/percentage/grade cut-off for these scholarships.
  • Any partnership between your current Indian institution and your future French institution will add some value. Any proof of French language education will be considered too.

  • Round 1: Complete applications will be evaluated by the selection committee.
  • Round 2: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an Online Interview between 7th April and 25th April, 2025. Applicants should ensure they are available during this period, as the interviews will not be rescheduled for another date.
  • A plagiarism check will be conducted on the Statement of Purpose (SOP) included at the end of the scholarship application form. The use of AI tools is discouraged, and any application found with significant AI-generated content will be disqualified.

Selection results will be sent to the candidates by Email when they are published on the website.
