Hello Prasanth,
Thank you for posting so much informative videos. I have a question, how to declare an Indian Furnished Rental income appropriately in form 2047? How to claim tax credit?
Thank you,
Best regards,
Amit.
Hello Amit,
For Indian rental income,
All the relevant tax Forms are 2042, 2044, 2047 and 2042-C PRO. Depending on the situation, the forms will change. Difficult to explain here.
Hello Prasanth,
Thanks for your reply. To be specific on the rental income.
– I have rented my furnished house in India. The yearly rent that I showed in last year’s french IT was in Form 2047, Section 5 under BÉNÉFICES NON COMMERCIAUX. The same amount was highligted in section 6 (DTAA) for tax credit equal to french tax (8TK). I also put the same amount in Form 2042 (8TK).
– The french tax authority taxed me on the 50% of the amount for social charges.
However it should not have been the case. Indian rental is taxed completly in India and French tax should provide me tax credit.
Is my understanding correct?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Amit.
Hello Amir, copy/pasting my answer from the Telegram group.
Declaring Indian rental income involves multiple topics like furnished vs un-furnished, rent below (micro-foncier) or above (regime reels) 15k€, charges, etc..
The relevant forms are 2047, 2044, 2042-C PRO & 2042. Basically we declare the rental income in France but get a tax credit equal to French tax. Technically will not be paying tax on it but it will be considered part of the total worldwide income.
It’s not easy to explain about the tax declaration for rental income via a few comments here.
So, I cannot give a complete answer based on the details in your comment.
These are vast topics to cover because of multiple scenarios. Also, I need to collect some actual examples of rental income from people to create these tutorials.
I haven’t even started the preparation. So, it will take some time. I am planning to complete them before the online correction deadline.
