Thanks for all the information. Upon checking today, I could not find Sushil KADWASRA on the list here – https://www.annuaire-traducteur-assermente.fr/fr/3,1,K/traducteur_assermente.html. Perhaps he no longer works as a Traducteur Assermentée, or perhaps I haven’t checked properly. Thought it was something to point out just in case things have changed from last year.

Adding to Sanjay’s answer, Even the list that you had mentioned is not an official one but a 3rd party.
The official list per city looks a lot different & it lists all the officially recognized professionals (not just translators) in the city.

If you are looking for CIBIL score like document in France, it does not exist. You can also contact your bank as explained in Local Bank: Account Statements & Creditworthiness Certificate

HI Prasanth, I am applying for home loan from India. They have requested Indian embassy attestation of English version of all my french documents. And when I checked the embassy they need apostilled documents. So my understanding is like this – my french documents first needs to be notarised by public notary and then translated to english and then apostilled and sent to embassy. Any idea on this ?

Most documents in India are bilingual; for example, my parents’ certificates contain text both in Tamil and English. I assume it was the case for you as well. Can we use any English to French Sworn translators since the content is the same in both languages or should we find a translator who accepts both languages?

Ideally, we are supposed to use a translator certified in both the languages, when a document is bilingual. If the entire text is exactly the same in both the languages, then a simple english to french is ok too.

Congrats for the baby. FYI. An updated extract from a detailed article on my website. https://prasanthragupathy.com/2024/02/childbirth-personal-experience-of-having-a-baby-in-france-1/ It has some old info (vaid until June 2025 like VFS procedures (now directly handled by Indian Embassy/Consulate) & apostille porcess currently handled by Notaires. I will update these 2 topics in the article very soon.
Birth Certificate from Mairie
Go to the Mairie to get the birth certificate. You should make sure that you have chosen the name of the baby before its birth. If you have a surname change needed for the baby, you need to get the Certificat De Coutume For A Newborn Child In France document from the Indian Embassy. Ideally, this must be done before the birth of the child.
You can ask for as many copies of birth certificate as required and there is no limit. Mairie will also ask you if you need a multilingual version. Please don’t confuse it with a translation. It will have an English version too. You can get as many copies as you want of this as well. Get it apostilled.
The original birth certificate « Acte de naissance » can be used for the all purposes in France. The apostilled multilingual birth certificate «Extrait d’acte de naissance plurilingue » can be used abroad. It is required for Indian Passport application to Indian Embassy/Consulate.
Good to know: Declare birth of the child with every concerned authority – CAF, Ameli (both parents’ accounts), Mutuelle, Impots, Assurance Habitation, etc
