2025 Christmas Bonus in France: Amount, Payment Date, Eligibility?

Published on: December 01, 2025 |  Article No: 338 | By: @rprasanth_kumar

Each year for Christmas, the French government provides a special financial boost for low-income households: La prime de Noël. It is meant to help the most modest families face end-of-year expenses with a bit more breathing room. For 2025, the bonus will reach more than two million households and will be paid automatically starting December 16.

Here is a full breakdown of who gets this benefit, when it arrives, and how much it offers.

What is a Prime de Noël?

La Prime de Noël is an exceptional Christmas bonus payment funded by the French government and distributed through three organizations:

Caisse d’allocations familiales (Caf)

Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA)

France Travail

It targets people who receive minimum social benefits. There is no application to fill out because the above agencies check eligibility and send the payment automatically.

Who will receive the Prime de Noël in 2025?

To qualify this year, you must have received one of the following benefits in November 2025 and or in December 2025:

Revenu de solidarité active (RSA)

Allocation de solidarité spécifique (ASS)

Allocation équivalent retraite (AER)

Payment Schedule

  • From 16th December 2025 for people who received RSA, ASS, or AER in November 2025.
  • From January 2026 for people whose eligibility starts in December 2025.

How much is the 2025 Prime de Noël?

The amount varies depending on the benefit you receive and, for RSA recipients, the size of your household.

For RSA Recipients: The amount depends on family composition. The payment comes from Caf or MSA.
