Testimonial 12: MiM in Business Analytics at NEOMA Business School

This article is part of a series of alumni testimonials about French colleges and universities. The alumni share their personal experiences about their courses, part-time jobs, internships, job search, etc. I have focused on alumni because it can help prospective and current students get a complete picture of the course and future opportunities.

In this particular article, Charan was kind enough to share his Master’s experiences from NEOMA Business School.

NEOMA Business School has been granted the “Bienvenue en France” label by Campus France and the French Ministry of European and International Affairs. It has 3 campuses in Reims, Rouen, and Paris.

Overview of the Master in Management Course

Personal Experiences during the Course

  • The course was meticulously designed to cater to students without prior business studies experience, ensuring that we had a comprehensive understanding of the subjects.
  • I was particularly impressed by how the curriculum was updated to align with industry standards.
  • Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it to be highly valuable.

Return on Investment (ROI)

  • Approximately 2.5 years will be required for MIM students to secure employment after graduation, while MSc students can expect a minimum of 1.5 years, taking into account personal expenses.

Multi-cultural Aspects of the Course

  • Within my Business Analytics group, there are approximately 5-6 Indian students.
  • However, this number may vary depending on the chosen course of study.

Part-time Job Experience

  • During my time in Rouen, I actively sought part-time job opportunities, but unfortunately, there were limited options available.
  • However, I observed some of my friends successfully securing part-time jobs after an extensive search.

Internship Experience

  • Neoma Business School organized career days, which provided an excellent platform for students to connect with potential employers.
  • I actively participated in these events and was fortunate enough to secure an internship.
  • The reputation of Neoma Business School undoubtedly played a role in securing the initial interview, but I also recognize the importance of my efforts in successfully obtaining the internship.

Job Search Experience

  • After completing my internship, I was fortunate to secure a contract with the same company.
  • However, I acknowledge that finding a first job in France can be particularly challenging, especially with limited French language proficiency.

Advice for Juniors

  • Based on my experience, I would like to offer some advice to my juniors.
  • While many individuals blame the French language as a barrier, I believe that language is a skill that can be acquired.
  • It is not necessary to achieve mastery, but having sufficient knowledge to communicate effectively with recruiters can significantly enhance your chances of starting a successful career in France.
  • Therefore, my advice is to make an effort to learn French.
