Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Talent Passport “Employee of a Young Innovative Company (JEI)” visa, non-European nationals including British must satisfy the following 4 conditions.

  • You are recruited by a young innovative company (JEI) or a company recognized as innovative by the French Ministry of Economy.
  • A permanent employment contract “CDI” or a fixed-term employment contract “CDD” for at least three months with an employer based in France. 
  • Your job is directly related to this company’s research and development project.
  • A gross annual salary of at least twice the legal national minimum wage (SMIC) in France, i.e. €42,406 as of 1st January 2024.

Documents required for Visa

Here is a detailed checklist of documents required for the French Talent Passport – Qualified employee visa application via VFS Global.

  1. Long-Stay Visa Application Form (complete and download)
  2. Three passport-size photographs meeting set standards. One must be attached to the application form (Size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, with a clear background)
  3. VFS Appointment Letter
  4. Cover Letter 
  5. Curriculum Vitae providing evidence of your skills and experience corresponding to the job.
  6. Passport (original along with 2 copies of the front and last pages) issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months after the visa expiry date.
  7. Old passports: if you own one or more former passports, you must bring them too.
  8. Documents concerning the company: a certificate from the French Ministry of Economy recognizing the innovative character of the company or a French tax document establishing the status of an innovative start-up company.
  9. Certificate from employer “attestation employeur” signed and stamped.
  10. Job Contract
  11. Proof of Accommodation (good to have but not mandatory)
    • Rental Agreement or
    • Airbnb or Hotel booking.

Please ensure you have the originals of documents and photocopies of each for submission. The originals can be verified during the VFS appointment and they will be returned except the passport.
