Also, here is a complete guide about regroupement familial, Family Reunification: How to bring your family to France?

OFII Checklist

Here is a detailed checklist of documents required for the family reunion “regroupement familial” application in France. All non-French documents must be translated to French. Do not staple any documents. Use paper clips, if required.

    • Here is a detailed guide to complete the application form
    • Complete the form in black ballpoint pen and capital letters.
  2. Your residence permit

    • Copy of your apostilled marriage certificate. If the document indicates a judgment, attach a copy of that judgment.
    • Copy of your apostilled birth certificate.
    • Copy of your spouse’s apostilled birth certificate (husband or wife)
    • Copy of your children’s apostilled birth certificate.
  4. Livret de Famille: This is not applicable for people who were married outside France. So, upload a single PDF of the apostilled & translated Birth certificate (child’s), Marriage certificate and also a note saying that it’s not applicable.
  5. Proof of financial resources (to be produced for the last 12 months)
    • Last Income Tax return (or non-taxation)
    • Employment contract or an attestation from employer (less than 3 months). Signed and with the company stamp.
    • Work Certificate (if you have multiple employers, one certificate per employer)

Accommodation Conditions

You must have an accommodation considered normal for a comparable family living in the same geographical region. The accommodation must meet certain health and equipment requirements.

Depending on the area where it is located in France, it must have a total living area of at least:

Location in France

Size

Zones A and A bis

Ex: Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, etc

22 m² for a couple without children. Then 10 m² per additional person

Zones B1 and B2

Ex: Grenoble, Nantes, Rennes, etc

24 m² for a couple  without children. Then 10 m² per additional person

Zone C

Ex:  Cahors, etc

28 m² for a couple  without children. Then 10 m² per additional person

An online simulator shows the type of zone (A, A bis, B1, B2 or C) related to your postal code in France.

Note:

  • I couldn’t find any official information about the number of rooms required based on the family size.
  • For example: A family of 3 with parents and 1 child might require two bedrooms. But, it is also not practical economically to have one bedroom per person for a larger family.
  • So, it really depends on the apartment and the opinion of the person doing the house inspection.

Financial Resources

Your financial resources must reach a certain net amount, which varies according to the size of your family:

Total Family Members

Income

2 or 3 people

SMIC or average of 1,766.92 €, over the last 12 month

4 or 5 people

average 1,943.61€ over the last 12 months

6 or more people

average 2 120,30 € over the last 12 months

The income can come from salaried or self-employed work, investments, retirement pensions, etc. The dependent spouse’s resources are also taken into account, provided that he or she receives income that will continue to be paid to him or her when he or she leaves his or her country.

All your financial resources and those of your spouse are taken into account, except the following:

  1. Family benefits:
  2. Equivalent retirement allowance
  3. Active Solidarity Income (RSA)
  4. Solidarity allowance for the elderly (ASPA)
  5. Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS)

Additional information

Some additional information to help you in submitting a valid application.

  • You should only send photocopies of the requested documents to the OFII.
  • Documents written in a foreign language must be translated into French by an official translator known as  “traducteur assermenté”.
  • The family reunification procedure does not apply to your ascendants such as parents, grandparents, etc
  • They may come to live in France on a visitor visa, if they have sufficient resources or if you can sponsor them.
  • Usually, a partial family reunification is not allowed. So, all your family members must arrive together in France.
  • However, an application for partial family reunification may be exceptionally authorized in the interests of the children. You must submit a request by a motivation letter at the time of submitting your application. The reasons that can be accepted relate to the education of the child, his/her health or even a housing too small to accommodate all the members of your family.

    Dear Prasanth,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for all your guidance earlier. I’m working in France under ICT visa and my spouse holds a European card with her local CDI contract.

My ICT visa is a Inter-company transfer Visa which is valid only for 3 years. We have separate login for residence permit.
In my case, after 3 months I would like to move my ICT residence permit under my spouse’s European card as a spouse. I’m working in France this regroup is applicable only if the family is in overseas.

Could you please guide how to transfer or move my current resident permit under my wife’s resident permit? Do I have to apply through my account or my spouse account?

When I open the Digital Administration for foreign nationals in France | Home – this website, limited options and none of them looks relevant.

Please guide me how to move forward.

Looking for your help and support.

    1. Hello Vijayakumar,

You can login to your ANEF account and submit a status change application for CdS Passeport Talent Famille. Its is a very simple process because it is a dependent residence permit.

If you don’t see a relevant option on ANEF, then an offline application must be submitted directly with the local Prefecture.

      Cheers,
      Prasanth

Dear Prasanth, Thank you for the prompt response. When I login my anef website, I found 1. Applying/Renewing residence permit 2. I’m applying French nationality 3. Apply for work permit 5. Declare a change of situation 6. Requesting travel document

In this I tried Declare a change of situation – appears that change of address, civil status and family situation. Looks none of them are relevant.

Did I missed anything? If not please guide me where to find the offline application.

        Thank you in advance.

          Hello Prasanth,

I tried an option for applying / Renew resident permit (option 1). In that option it has “I am applying for another resident permit” option in which sub option as “As a family member” – ” foreign national with a resident permit”

After chosing this option it shows “you are applying for a residence permit as a family member of a foreign national with a resident permit – As Family spouse”

By any chance this could be a right option? Please clarify

          Thank you again.

          1. Hello Vijay,
As explained via email, please use the French version of the website and the same for asking questions here too. This helps in avoiding any misunderstandings.

Based on what you have explained, it looks correct.

            Cheers,
            Prasanth

  3. Hi Prasanth,
Once the documents are ready, do we need to send them to the Préfecture or the OFII office?
    Thanks
